Isle of Jura 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Briefly made available as a 40%ABV release in 2008 before being discontinued the following year, Jura 21 is back on the shelves. Re-released at 44% for the 200th anniversary of the distillery in 2010, it's matured in x Bourbon barrels then finished in vintage 1963 oloroso sherry casks. From the distillery with some of the highest stills in Scotland, expect a lighter bodied, silky, delicately peated malt with aromas and flavours of marzipan, crushed walnuts and bitter chocolate. Extremely limited stocks.

Other reviews... The wonderful bouquet is grainy dry, lightly nutty with additional vibrant scents of buttered honeywheat toast, sautéed almonds, cigar tobacco and buttermilk. The palate entry is sap- and maple-like; by midpalate the flavors run from chocolate milk to nougat to oatmeal-with-honey. Finishes gracefully and with late taste thrust.
