Isle of Jura 21 Year Old Time Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Great to see official age statement Juras arriving at higher strengths. Unfortunately, 'Time' is scheduled for Duty Free rather than general retail, so we only managed to secure a small quantity. Matured in x-Bourbon barrels before a spell in casks that previously contained peated single malt, it comes beautifully presented in a frosted glass bottle and handsome case. Bottled in 2019 at 47.2% Alc./Vol. Very limited stocks.

Other reviews... crystallised brown sugars formulate from the off, the tannins having a big say in matters. But it is those wisps of smoke that add structure and balance, seemingly tying together the crisper sweet notes and the earthier oakiness. Spices ping round with abandon; digestive biscuits dipped in mocha; alongside Tide, great to see Jura back offering us something that intrigues; a bit like the first Jura I ever tasted - on the island's hotel - nearly 40 years ago... 92 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2022
