Jacques Lassaigne Les Vignes de Montgueux Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne
Emmanuel Lassaigne is one of Champagne's most thoughtful and exciting grower producers, working with the chalky south and southeast-facing sloped vineyards of Montgueux in the Aube department. Lassaigne's extraordinary Champagnes are pushing the qualitative boundaries not just of the Aube but of the entire region. Farming in his vineyards is organic with cultivated soils and harvesting at full maturity. In the cellar, the wines ferment in wood and stainless steel, and they're disgorged by hand without dosage. The style is powerful and vinous but also racy and electric.
Other Reviews....
The new disgorgement of Lassaigne's emblematic NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Vignes de Montgueux is a blend of the 2020, 2019 and 2018 vintages, from vines that range between 45 and 70 years old growing on the slopes of Montgueux. Offering up aromas of pear, crushed mint, bread dough and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, vinous and incisive, with a satiny attack that segues into a taut, racy mid-palate, concluding with a pungently saline finish. It's an especially strong rendition. Drink 2023 - 2032.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Aug 11, 2023)
The nose of this blanc de blancs is appealingly ripe but not overly so, with a pleasant balance of apple, lemon peel and apricot touched with a gentle note of autolysis. The texture of the mousse is creamy, and the feel is supple and silky without any heaviness. The base wines are one-third each from 2017, 2018 and 2019. Grapes are blended from sources throughout the village and aged on the lees in tank and barrel for more than a year before tirage. Delicious. Drink 2022 - 2030.
