Juyondai Ryusen Junmai Daiginjo won the coveted Super Premium Category trophy at the 2019 Sake Competition, further highlighting the amazingly high quality sake being produced by Takagi Shuzo in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. As the top sake from Juyondai, Ryusen is produced by gathering the essence of cold dripped sake over an extended period of time, using the highest grade Yamadanishiki rice polished to 35%, and brewed using ultra low temperature method. A dream sake of pure perfection.

This medium-sweet NV Juyondai Ryusen Junmai Daiginjo is elegant and light but with great complexity. It offers super clean and delicate fragrances such as citrus blossom, red and black cherries, peach and steamed rice. It is broad and persistently powerful but softened by its roundness. With a long-lingering, nectarine finish, this is definitely a sake of perfection! Rice: Yamada Nishiki. Alcohol: 16%. Tasted March 23, 2018.
