Kanosuke 2021 First Edition Cask Strength Japanese Single Malt Whisky (700ml)
Collectors will be keen to get their hands on the first single malt whisky from new Japanese distillery, Kanosuke, founded in 2017 by Komasa Jozo, a large shochu producer in the Kagoshima prefecture. Distilled using unpeated malt in 2017 (the first year of production) and 2018 , the whisky was matured in a mix of re-charred American white oak barrels and ex- Kozuru barrels (a barrel-aged sochu developed by the company in the late '50s and one of their flagship products). Blended after three years of maturation, it's described as a soft and fruity malt, with orchard fruits, sweet oak and spice. 58% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Very limited stocks.
Notes from the producers.... Nose: Lime, prune, raisin butter. Taste: Mellow and woody, vanilla, Nikki cinnamon. Finish: Bittersweetness of chocolate-covered candied orange peel, soft sea breeze.
