Kinglake Distillery American Werewolf in Paris Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Now sold out at the distillery. Aged for an initial seventeen months in 200-litre American oak before finishing for seventeen months in a Tawny cask sourced from Coriole in Mclaren Vale, South Australia. The Tawny barrel was a real find and had held Port from 1985 until 2019 when it was re-coopered and filled at Kinglake. The result is a whisky that has the richness of a true vintage fortified barrel but with a little Bourbon vanilla/caramel sweetness in the background. Starting with a larger Bourbon cask meant some of the underlying Kinglake spirit was retained. 56% Alc./Vol. Bottled July 2022.
