Leblon Cachaca (700ml)

The brainchild of a former Moet Hennessey executive, Leblon was launched in 2005 and takes its name from Leblon Beach in Rio de Janeiro. The distillery is located in Patos de Minas, an agricultural town in the western highlands of Minas Gerais and prides itself on using only the freshest cane juice obtained within three hours of harvest. Only the mid-section of the cane is pressed where the highest quality liquid is found, and unlike other cachaça distilleries which increase the force of their pressing to maximize yield, Maison Leblon gently presses the cane to extract only the best-tasting sensorial qualities from the cane stalks. Following distillation in an alembic copper still, the liquid spends a short spell in French oak casks seasoned with brandy, some of which previously held cognac.
