The Old Perth Double Sherry Wood joined the core lineup of Old Perth Whiskies in late 2024. Drawn from ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, we have clean and fairly contemporary sherry at play here with some basic, fresh fruit cake character and a light nuttiness and late bitter cocoa intruding in the sweetness of the malt. 48.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Other reviews... Nose: To begin, lots of baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peel) before brown sugar, sultanas, crème caramel, then a hint of raspberry. Palate: Spanish custard slice, fragrant vanilla bean, and cinnamon sugar crêpes all make this a sweet treat on the palate. Finish: Some notes of wood spice emerge, alongside heather honey and a medium-length finish. Comment: Perfectly pleasant whisky but lacks some complexity. 7.2 points - whiskymag.com
