Six years old, single cask 95% rye (the remainder malted barley) chosen by WHA as this year's Halloween bottling, and despite the high rye content, there's ample sweetness for Bourbon lovers. Vanilla, ripe peaches and busy rye spices on the nose, then buttery-yet-fresh through the mid-palate with cocoa, muddled mint, lingering orange oils and superb staying power. If you like a bit of grunt and prickle, you get that too, but it doesn't demand water. Akin to a super-charged Sazerac, this exemplary, melt-in-your-mouth rye should have broad appeal while the price of admission remains reasonable. Barrel #714 is limited to 150 bottles for Australia. Notes from the bottlers... "Caramel, vanilla, mint, floral; bold lingering spice".  Rumour has it that fans of Tennessee whiskey often go missing around Nashville, lured into the sewers by a clown named Pennyrye... Thankfully, WHA only lost half the tasting panel when picking this excellent cask.
