North Star North British 21 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky (700ml)

This peculiar Indie bottling comes from the North British distillery, located just outside of Edinburgh. The distillery supplies famous blends such as J&B, Cutty Sark, The Famous Grouse and Johnnie Walker. North British never bottle whisky under their own label. So whilst almost any whisky lover would have tried a whisky to which North British has contributed, very few would have had the opportunity to taste it on its own.

Tasting note: Matured in a Bourbon barrel. Pretty polished brass colour. Matchbox, oak shavings, empty barrels, then richer scents of fresh-baked sponge cake and custard before the bouquet dries repeating the woody / fresh-sawn oak notes. Evocative of young column still rum, this offers a lush, vanilla-soaked mouthfeel with notes of creamy soda, coffee flavoured milk and wood spices and an extended finish, achieving a fine balance between sweetness and vibrancy. 52.9% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 146 bottles.
