Penderyn Faraday Single Malt Welsh Whisky (700ml)

First offered in 2018 for the Travel Retail market, 'Faraday' begins life in ex-bourbon casks followed by a finishing in ex-ruby port casks. Named after Penderyn's unique still developed by a team led by Dr David Faraday (a descendant of Sir Michael Faraday, discoverer of the electrolytic cell), it consists of a single "pot" beneath a tall rectifying column. Whilst Scottish distilleries generally use two conventional stills for their production, and the Irish three, the technology developed at Penderyn enables an extremely "clean" and flavourful spirit to be produced from the single still at an industry high of 92%. The design is also energy efficient. No doubt this bottling was created to show off the distillery's house style to a broader audience. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the producers... Nose: Gently light Ruby Port with perfume of fruits, raisins and vanilla notes. Taste: Delicate and creamy with dried fruits, very floral honey and wood spices Finish: Medium and gentle, sweet but at the same time has a nutty dryness.
