Roger Groult 3 Year Old Calvados Apple Brandy (700ml)

A Pays d’Auge Calvados produced from around twenty varieties of cider apples: sweet, bitter-sweet, bitter and acidulous including Bisquet, Binet Rouge, Noel des Champs and Egyptia. Distilled over a wood fire in three small traditional pot stills, this was initially matured in 300 litre barrels allowing a greater contact of the spirit to wood.

Tasting note: Pale gold. The bouquet is fresh, bright and crisp with aromas of cider, baked green apples / pears as well as cinnamon and hints of clove. Follows through in a light to medium bodied Calvados developing with flavours of ripe apple, pear cider and lively acidity. Trails off mildly varnishy, warming, dry, spicy. Medium long. Nice youthful style. Perfect for cooking and long drinks. 40% Alc./Vol.
