"...a true treat, as Sagamore continues to demonstrate its excellence in blending acumen." - drinkhacker.com

Produced in Baltimore, Maryland, careful maturation and blending result in a softer-styled rye with flavours of peach preserves, graham crackers and dark chocolate as well as orange zest, peppery honey and cinnamon toast. Bottled at high strength and non-chill filtered. 56.3% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Bursting from the glass, the nose opens with prominent notes of apricot and Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Allowing time for the the rye to sit, fresh waffle cones from the ice cream shop combine with nutmeg and caramel sauce to complete the exquisite nosing experience. Though featuring a solid age statement, oak is far from dominant as fruit clearly leads the way. Despite a year less in age, the 2023 release was slightly more oak-forward than its 2024 counterpart. The pleasing aromas lead the mind to anticipate dense and sweet sensations on the palate. In continuity with the nose, the palate opens with unmistakable apricot notes joined with burnt orange peel. Transitioning to the midpalate, cloves find brown sugar and dark plums. The palate avoids the designation of cloying, but is decidedly luscious. As the aroma suggests, the mouthfeel is acutely dense. The 2023 release likewise featured a highly viscous mouthfeel, yet the additional year of maturation manages to add further to the viscosity. Heading into the finish, black pepper arrives along with more fresh waffle cone. As the uncommonly dense rye sits on the palate, cinnamon and cocoa powder linger. The 2024 release of Sagamore Spirit Straight Rye 9 Years Old is a true treat, as Sagamore continues to demonstrate its excellence in blending acumen. Rye whiskey is often associated with bold and punchy black pepper notes that can be a deterrent. For those who think they don’t like rye whiskey due to this, Sagamore;s 9 year old offers a superb alternative. - drinkhacker.com
