Shinshu Mars Distillery Maltage "Cosmo" Manzanilla Sherry Cask Finish Blended Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)

‘Cosmo’ (which refers to a mountain near the distillery), is a relatively recent label for this producer. New for 2019 comes a blended malt composed of the distillery's own spirit as well as Scotch malt whisky imported in bulk, with the final combination finished in ex-Manzanilla sherry casks. Light and fresh like Finos, Manzanilla sherries are aged close to the coast in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain. They're typically bone dry styles with a salty tang.

Notes from the bottlers... this builds on the soft and smooth mouthfeel of standard Cosmo, adding aromas of dried fruit, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Chocolate and coconut on the palate, with a slight bitterness. 42% Alc./Vol.
