Shinshu Mars Distillery Maltage "Cosmo" Wine Cask Finish Blended Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)

Famous as the country’s highest distillery, Shinshu Mars has drawn comparison with Scotland's Dalwhinnie. They offer blends as well as their own Japanese whiskies under various names including 'Komagate', 'Iwai', 'Mars' and more. It gets confusing, but what’s clear is they set a high standard for most of the liquid they bottle. Yet another sub-label in Shinshu's portfolio is the ‘Cosmo' range, named after a mountain in Japan's Central Alps nearby the distillery. Featuring their own malts blended with whiskies from undisclosed Scottish sources, this limited edition was extra-seasoned in red wine casks for a year before bottling. Boasting a gorgeous ruby red colour to prove it, expect ripe berry characteristics with vanilla and cinnamon flavours and a mildly tannic finish. 43% Alc./Vol. Bottled in 2020.
