2011 Smiths Angaston 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky (700ml)
This edition marks the second release from the 2011 distillation. Originally aged in a selection of casks for eight years and then ‘finished’ for two years in a combination of casks previously used for Yalumba's Antique Muscat, 1,516 bottles are on offer in both 375ml & 700ml formats. The quality of these releases has been consistently high. Expect intriguing floral notes combined with tarry smoke and zesty citrus rinds and a rounded, layered palate with classic malt and spice plus hints of dark chocolate orange. 47.2% Alc./Vol.
Crafted using heavy roasted Flagship barley from Ardrossen on the Yorke Peninsula, malted at Cooper’s Brewery in Adelaide and then double distilled at Yalumba in the Hills above Angaston, Barossa, South Australia. just three batches of Smith’s Angaston Whisky were distilled between 1997 and 2000. Ten years passed before Yalumba eventually gave in to its customers pleas for another taste of Smith’s and the old pot-still was fired up again in the winter of 2011. Further charges took place in 2014, 2017 and 2021.
