Svensk Lake Vattern Vodka (700ml)

Svensk Vodka was founded in 1996 after the prohibition of private companies from producing spirits was repealed in order to bring Sweden in line with E.U. regulations. As such, Svensk is the first private producer of spirits in Sweden since 1917. The flagship product is Svensk’s 100% grain spirit, “Lake Vattern Vodka” which forms the basis of each of the flavoured versions. The design of each bottle is influenced by Swedish minimalism, inspired by Lake Vattern and the Swedish light. Svensk Vodka was awarded a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2005.

Tasting note: Clear. Vanilla cream / meringue nose with some citrus emerging. The palate entry is at first slightly glycerous then lean and dry with flavours of mineral water and icing sugar. Well balanced, finishing sweet with a subtle white pepper touch and soft spirit warmth. Distinctive at this price point and highly drinkable. 40% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews… The smoky, bean-like aroma is vivid, beautifully bitter and bark-like. The palate entry is root- and bark-like, herbal, and moderately oily; at midpalate the flavor profile turns towards refreshing bitterness and a minerally quality. Ends dry yet oily and smooth. A dandy value.
