Talisker 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Annual 2022 Release

A distillery that can fire at all ages. 10, 18 and 30 year old expressions can be equally impressive, delivering different aspects of this iconic spirit with no loss of character. Matured in American oak, the 2022 edition follows a sporadic line of 30 year olds (the last bottling was 2021, but before that, 2017). Now sweetly mellowed, elegance rather than power is the keyword. The peated liquid is joined by light pepper notes and an oily texture, along with orchard fruits and hints of salted caramel. Going by previous outturns, we'd expect around 4000 bottles at cask strength are on offer globally. 49.6% Alc./Vol. Very limited stocks.

Notes from the producers... Nose – Freshly cut orchard fruit, waxy red apples, fragrant white pepper, cinder toffee and a subtle creaminess.  A fresh maritime breeze passes, alongside the growing presence of tropical fruits, coco nibs and a beach bonfire. Palate – A warming smokiness on the palate, with a chili pepper prickle, a gentle salinity, fading to reveal layers of apple and pear, smouldering embers, and notes of spicy oak. Finish – A lingering warmth, with a peppery and cinnamon tingle alongside notes of ripe fruit, roasted hazelnut and a hint of vanilla.
