Tamnavulin Sherry Cask Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The softer side of Speyside is on show in this deeply coloured Tamnavulin. Finished in three different types of sherry casks, the nose offers a delicate and gently sweet sherry infusion leaving the malt intact, American oak adding an undercurrent of vanillas. At first dryish and Oloroso-like, by mid palate this develops impressive weight and mouthfeel with a brief burst of fruit cake and a thrust of warming spices. The finish lingers with more dried fruits (think PX), bitter peel and a late succulence. The wine input is sensitively handled, and at just 40%, the depth of flavour unexpected. Prepare to be surprised.

...Rather exotic on the nose, reminiscent of bananas foster, fresh ginger root, shaved coconut, dried apricot, and orange blossom.
