Stunning, effortless, sensual whisky.

Following 2015s inaugural limited-edition release, Arran decided to include its 18-year-old in the core range with annual runs of around 9000 bottles. Produced from un-peated malt, the more recent bottlings introduce some ex-Sherry casks in the mix for extra richness. This remains one of the most re-purchased whiskies on our shelves.

Tasting note: Perfect bright amber gold. Pillow-soft, floral bouquet. Less the overt fruitiness of some previous bottlings, merely hinting at pear and ripe apple; flashes of rock candy, honey, barley and cocoa, filling out with air contact. Impeccable purity. Creamy-yet-fresh delivery offering a clinic on balance. Mid palate borders on sublime in its oily, malty, honey-glazed feel. Stunning, effortless, sensual whisky. 46% Alc./Vol.

Previous bottling tasted 2015... Brilliant gold. Wafts of pristine, fruity malt bordering on sublime. Pear and semi-ripe apple feature with underlying marshmallow. Creamy, with bristling vanilla-soaked barley augmented by a spicy oak undercurrent and a forgivable trace of sulphur. Finishes perfectly balanced, with gingerbread, sweet spices and hints of beeswax in the aftertaste. Undeniably delicious! 92 points Non chill filtered. 46% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... This expression is the culmination of Arran’s trilogy of 16, 17, and 18 year old releases, matured in sherry hogsheads. It is the oldest ‘house’ offering to date. Floral and fragrant on the nose, with soft fruits and marzipan. Balanced and rounded. Viscous and full-bodied on the palate, with fruit spices, vanilla, sweet sherry, orange marmalade, and finally raisins. Slowly drying to spicy plain chocolate and licorice.
