The Arran Cask Finishes Amarone Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

After initial maturation in traditional oak casks this unusual Arran was finished in a selection of Amarone wine casks sourced from artisan Italian wine producers. Bottled non chill filtered and with no colouring added. 50% Alc./Vol.

Tasting note: [tasted from a 10 ml sample]. The wine is evident in the crimson-pink blush. Unusual dried chile opening whiffs are eclipsed by an amazing, fresh, juicy sultana-like aroma that almost overshadows the malt. Gets more winey with exposure rounding off a superb cask finish bouquet. Wonderful expressiveness again on the palate which packs fabulous concentration and length; while not enormously complex, this is so judiciously balanced that even 10 ml makes you feel you're privileged to a classic. Plummy then fresh grape-like through to the fade. A stunning fusion of whisky, wood and wine. Get some of this- you won't regret it. 50% Alc./Vol.
