The Macallan Rare Cask Black Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Macallan are now very active on the Travel Retail scene, and some believe their best whiskies are now reserved exclusively for this market. Here's another Macallan rarity that would be bound to catch a traveller's eye (the packaging is sleek and non-traditional) as well as rouse your curiosity: This Macallan is peated. It's reported that less than 100 casks have contributed to the creation of 'Mac Black', an out of character whisky which also affirms Macallan’s present commitment to experimentation. All of the barrels were sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, mostly first fill. Intrigued? We certainly are. This is part of a very limited direct import shipment. It's uncertain that we'll able to secure more stocks.

Bob Dalgarno, Macallan's Master Whisky Maker comments, “Rare Cask Black tells a different story about our spirit and casks, but more than that it tells a story of rarity. Smoky Macallan is rare, there is very little in existence and once used these casks will be no more. This is a whisky which is out of character for The Macallan due to the subtle seam of smoke on the palate, but it still bears the essential Macallan DNA.”
