Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$120. 00

$1440.00 Dozen
ABV: 40%
Tasting note: Aged for 15 years in a European Oak Refill Sherry Butt, The Whisky Cellar's “House Malt” is an ongoing series aiming to feature whiskies which characterise their region at an affordable price point. This one's sourced from a well-known Speyside distillery. Says Bonnington, "We typically bottle these between 40-43% rather than cask strength to offer a well aged, entry level, easy drinking dram". What you get is a lightish malt, possibly with a good proportion of old oak in the mix. Tea biscuit aromas follow with Ovaltine and hints of dried fruits at mid palate. Pristine, soft, but with enough mouthfeel and presence at the finish to keep you engaged. Reminded this taster of Glen Elgin or medium sherried Glenfarclas. 40% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Expect leather, macerated dark fruits, a touch of grassiness and a splash of bright orange rind.
