Tasting note: Japanese brewery-distillery, Meiri Shuriu utilize traditional brewing techniques and proprietary yeast strains to prompt long-term low temperature fermentations that result in low astringency and delicate, aromatic flavours in their award-winning sakes. To create their gin, ten year old sake is vacuum distilled in a single pot still with seven botanicals including juniper berries, lemon peel, orange peel and cinnamon. The aroma offers a curious mix of candied orange, mandarin peel, boiled lemons and light juniper. Creamy and citrus-forward, in the mouth it's medium bodied, finishing with salivating citrus oils and mild pepper warmth. Singularly focussed, but deliciously fresh. 45% Alc./Vol.
